Dice LA did remedy panic bayonet by implementing a minimum charge distance but I believe Dice Sweden chose not to implement that fix (and many others) for Battlefield 5. Personally I would prefer that there was no quick knife button and that you had to equip it first but that's not likely to ever happen so I would rather that knives were not OHK to mitigate the effectiveness of panic knifing and so we don't need to see a return of quick time events in Battlefield multiplayer. You had to equip it first and the range was so short that its only practical use was for knifing snipers and other stationary targets. That being said, the refractor engine Battlefield knives were also OHK from any angle but there was no key to use it. Complete 'Leading From the Front (Basic)' Assignment: Hasty Retreat Increase maximum sprint speed whilst suppressed by 10: Increases a players maximum sprint by 10 while they are under suppressive fire. Battlefield 4 (and maybe Hardline?) are the only Battlefield games in the series that has the OHK knife from any angle with the only counter to it being a quick time event. Bayonet Training Bayonet charge lasts 1 second longer and recovers 1 second quicker: Increases Bayonet Charge time and recovery by 1 second. The way they work in BF1 and 5 is the exact same way it works in BF3 but with more variety in weapon damage/speed. Pickups excluded neither BF1 or 5 had one hit melee kills other than from behind.

This inevitably results in the panic knife which, based on Battlefield 1 and V, was determined by who hit the “melee button” first…Īnd please do not get me started on the bayonet attack… The vast majority of players end up in melee due to terrible spawn locations or due to simply blindly running into it, not actively seeking melee combat.
